EWZine (7:04:00 PM): Lets start with the basics, who are you and what do you do in the hobby of e-wrestling? William (7:05:30 PM): My name is William, I'm better know by my username Zortalk and I run Silver State Battleground a federation inside of the WfWA Alliance. EWZine (7:06:28 PM): How long have you been in e-wrestling? William (7:06:58 PM): I've been e-wrestling for about six to seven years. EWZine (7:07:23 PM): How did you originally discover it? William (7:09:23 PM): By accident actually, I was searching for CAW designs and hacks for No Mercy for the N64 and I stumbled across my first federation, Rebellion Wrestling Federation. They suckered me to join. EWZine (7:10:19 PM): Was it RP or Angle? William (7:12:36 PM): Actually, it was a weird combination of roleplay and picking moves that had secretly assigned numbers. There was two sets of moves to pick from, one set where the assigned "damage" was between 10-30 and the second set ranged from 40-50. It was mildly confusing but I got a hang of it. Matches were decided by who had the higher score. EWZine (7:12:59 PM): How long where you there before you moved onto your next fed, and what was it? William (7:14:26 PM): I stayed with the RWF for about three years maybe, my next federation was BWA (Baddass Wrestling Association), probably a year into my stay at RWF. EWZine (7:14:56 PM): When was your first attempt at running an interfed? William (7:16:41 PM): In the RWF I ran a "minor league" feeding federation called "Sinister" however, I never really had to judge any roleplays. My first RP interfed attempt was taking over the WfWA's All-Star Wrestling Association. EWZine (7:17:21 PM): What happened with those? William (7:19:54 PM): Eventually "Sinister" was re-absorbed into the RWF itself. The entire reason for dividing the RWF up was because of 40+ Active Handlers, but soon the talent pool began shrinking and it was gone. AWA was terminated by executive order and the reason was due to lack of handlers. EWZine (7:21:24 PM): Over all, how has e-wrestling changed from when you first began and now? William (7:24:10 PM): For the most part, not much. I wish I could say it was better "back in the good ol' days" but reading the material from the glory days, it's painful. The writing is awful, the story lines are essentially the same, it's just bad. The only thing that has changed is better graphic design, much better design. But I guess that comes with the change in technology too. EWZine (7:25:18 PM): Speaking of technology, recently e-wrestling iPhone applications have come to light, Poser figures are getting more detailed, and radio shows are running like crazy. Where do you see technology in e-wrestling going in, say, the next couple of years? William (7:27:55 PM): Eventually, wrestling simulation. The roleplay won't be written down but actually directed by the handler for youtube videos. And matches will be coordinated by the fedheads. It'll be real wrestling, people could actually look at an fed and not laugh about how they're spending their time doing D&D minus dungeons or dragons. Then again, they're probably still laugh about how they couldn't do any of that stuff in real life. Haha. EWZine (7:28:48 PM): Where do you see e-wrestling as a whole in the next few years? William (7:30:22 PM): Hrmmm, I see it staying the same for the most part. But who knows, we may have some rough draft simulation. Computer speed is doubling exponentially every three months, right? EWZine (7:31:02 PM): Who are some people you've met along the way that you respect and have enjoyed either working with or admired their work? William (7:34:08 PM): Their are quite a few people. From the RWF I've always enjoyed The Prophet's work, I can't remember his real name but for not being in a roleplay federation he put out some solid stuff. In another federation I handled and ran, IEW, I always enjoyed working with just about everyone there. I still talk to some of them but out of the entire federation, E.G. Mackie, who I suppose now is a real wrestler in Scotland was a blast. Their are way too many people in the WfWA but I've got to give a shout out to Kevin and Justin. I've worked with Kevin a whole bunch and Justin fairly recently in SSB, but they're all fantastic. EWZine (7:34:25 PM): Ok, on to the flip side of the previous question now. Who are some people who have maybe rubbed you the wrong way, or for one reason or another you just don't like? William (7:36:54 PM): Their are quite a few of those but sadly I don't remember half of them because there were some real winners out of the bunch. One I constantly hear stuff about for whatever reason is the owner of the BWA. I tend to agree with the reports against him because it seems like the same schtick from when I handled there. It wouldn't surprise me if he's done it the ten years he's ran the federation but jeez.. He just wasn't a nice guy to work with. EWZine (7:37:53 PM): Is there anyone that you have yet to work with in e-wrestling, but would like to collaborate on a project with them? William (7:38:51 PM): I can't think of one person in particular but I'm always up for working with new people. EWZine (7:39:03 PM): Are there any now defunct e-feds that you wouldn't mind seeing re-opened? William (7:40:38 PM): It'd be great to see RWF come back but it's waaay too much work, both as the owner and a handler. I'd like to see CWA come back, the "precursor" to SCCW and COPW. I don't know if it was the real precursor but I had alot of fun with that fed. EWZine (7:40:49 PM): Do you have a personal art preference when it comes to e-feds? As in, Poser, Micros, Pic bases, Hand Drawn etc. William (7:43:08 PM): In my own fed, I prefer for nothing of the sort. I find them to be a bit silly just because they all look the same. I won't tell a handler to get rid of a pic base or anything but I find it funny as hell that there's so many Randy Orton Pic Base wrestlers. I prefer a creative description. EWZine (7:45:19 PM): Right now, what Fantasy Wrestling sites and/or promotions do you currently follow? William (7:46:11 PM): I'm pretty bad about following promotions besides my own. But I do take a visit to EWZine and EfedKnights EWZine (7:47:27 PM): Well, that's all the questions I have for you at this. I want to thank you for sitting down with me to do this interview. But, before we go, is there anything else you'd you like to say to our readers? William (7:48:17 PM): Shameless Self Promotion: JOIN MUHHH FED William (7:48:19 PM): hahah EWZine (7:48:27 PM): Thanks Again |
